Join the Ventura County Complete Count Committee, friends, neighbors and local leaders for the kick off of Census 2020! Pledge to be counted in the Census and celebrate through song, dance, food, poetry and more.

Performances By: 

Mariachi Inlakech youth mariachi has engaged hundreds of young children over the past three decades teaching them the basics of music theory and performance. They are actively involved in community activities and have performed throughout California and Mexico!

Los Matachines Guadalupanos represent the traditional indigenous culture of the northern Sierra Madre in Mexico. They are a ceremonial danza group that perform in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. They dress in traditional ceremonial dress and clothing and their danza is an acting out by various characters representing Moctezuma, his generals, La Malinche, and El Toro.

 Los Hermanos Herrera is a family music group playing various styles of traditional Mexican music such as Son Huasteco, Son Jarocho, and musica Norteña. They perform with an aggressive and energetic style that is both passionate and exhilarating.

Featuring Ventura County Poet Laureat, Luzmaria Espinosa!

Luzmaria Espinosa from Santa Paula who was just selected as the Poet Laureate of Ventura County. She has written poetry since she was in high school and has also been an actress in Chicano Teatro and is currently the Capitana of an Aztec danza group. 
 
Her poetic themes typically focus on Chicano and indigenous culture and issues of social justice, especially as they relate to women.

VCCF and the County of Ventura Award More than $350,000 in Census Funding

VCCF and the County of Ventura recently awarded more than $350,000 to Community Based Organizations throughout the county. The purpose of this second round of funding is to support and provide outreach activities to hard-to-count populations as part of the 2020 Census for Ventura County.

Proposed activities range from creating educational materials, providing trainings, putting on language-specific plays, coordinating Census events, to hosting Questionnaire Assistance Centers and Questionnaire Action Kiosks at their facilities. The deadline for the next round of funding is February 29, 2020.
